As the local representative, KPN provided the physical presence as well as the rapid response capabilities to the entire team through all phases of the project.

KPN's extensive scope also included building and site assessment studies for the 800-seat Hallam Theater demolition and renovation. KPN was responsible for specific tasks such as the creation of existing building background drawings and coordination during the design phase, as well as the preparation of material specifications.

KPN facilitated the submission process to DGS and localities (MNCPPC, etc.), and assists in coordination sessions/local meetings with state and local agencies. They also provide the team with critical code and planning data for the building and campus and participate in site visits, information gathering, communications, quality control reviews, and the design and documentation of discrete areas of the building to produce stand-alone drawings in the CD set. KPN is the primary design team representative during Construction Administration.

  • KPN Architects worked with the design team and the college in selecting furniture for the various theatre, classrooms, offices, and common spaces. The selection of furniture was unique to its program and function and was documented on the FF&E spreadsheet and Form G to be procured from various sources including Maryland Correctional Enterprises (MCE).

While working with the theatre consultant, KPN Architects documented all the theatre, lighting, musical, and other equipment into Form G for DBM review and approval. The furniture plans were carefully coordinated with MEP, AV/IT and Theatre plans to ensure that they functionally fit. KPN reviewed the plans and mock-ups of the various theatre and art teaching spaces with their respective departments for efficient use of space and equipment. KPN is currently working with the College in reviewing furniture and equipment purchase orders and MCE submittals for final procurement and installation.

KPN Architects also designed and produced the signage package for the project. This included working closely with the college on developing a comprehensive yet efficient wayfinding signage system for the entire building.
